Bullet Force

Awareness Campaign & Key Art Production

University Project

“80% of all gun deaths take place in the United States.”

Task

The theme of this six-week interactive design brief was ‘emotional states’. I took this literally, following the then-recent Las Vegas shooting and the resulting emotions dividing the United States. U.S. gun control is an issue that many feel strongly about, however, I feel that the frequency of mass shootings has lead to the desensitisation of many, producing immovable opinions.

I therefore produced a pitch to Sony for a short interactive game experience that puts players into three stereotypical levels, which progressively reveal themselves to be existing examples of U.S. mass shooting scenarios. This shock-tactic approach takes advantage of gamers’ comfort zones and then hits them with reality. I produced the key art using character art that I commissioned from Sam Brooks, a game concept artist.

Deliverables

  • Key art production and adaptation across different platforms and formats.

  • Conceptual pitch document to Sony, including rough level storyboards, and key marketing opportunities.

  • Mockups demonstrating the title’s presence across PlayStation’s store front & social channels.
